Stinky tofu and popcorn chicken tasted great, the broth of their beef noodle soup was the highlight along with plentiful beef. Dishes felt more home style and relatively light, fitting for a cafe

Tried this restaurant few times. Every time we will order crispy chicken cutleg w. Garlic flavor sauce. That’s my top 1.

Always an amazing time here. Highly recommend the double fried pork belly and the garlic hot stone fish. The textures are phenomenal and I have never had a bad experience. I go here 1-2 times per month and at varying times of the day, the wait is never more than 10 minutes. Service is phenomenal.

Pretty solid Taiwanese restaurant! Service was good and very quick, plus they packed up my leftovers really nicely, good takeout spot too. I found the quality, portion, and price to be pretty good, though the broth flavors could be a bit stronger.

Had a nice family dinner. Tried the fried chicken cutlet, beef stew soup, chicken basil hot pot, and soup dumplings. All of them had been so delicious. The broth won the beef stew soup was really good.

Taiwanese Bistro Cafe 33, a hidden gem in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood, is celebrated for its authentic and extensive menu that brings the vibrant flavors of Taiwan’s night markets to the city. Its main features include a focus on traditional Taiwanese xiaochi (small eats), such as house-made Mini Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao), flaky Scallion Pancakes, and the comforting classic, Braised Pork Over Rice (Lu Rou Fan). Highly praised dishes often involve aromatic basil, like the Chicken with Basil and Garlic in Stone Hot Pot. The restaurant is also BYOB, enhancing its casual appeal. The overall feeling of Cafe 33 is one of warm, neighborhood authenticity and comfort. Despite its humble setting—a non-descript building that used to be a laundromat—the interior is styled to be clean and inviting, often featuring a pleasant outdoor seating area. The staff is frequently noted for treating patrons like family, creating an atmosphere that is both nostalgic for those who know the cuisine and genuinely welcoming for newcomers. It feels like a genuine taste of Taiwanese homestyle cooking in a relaxed, friendly setting.

The law was upheld: if a restaurant has a number in the name it's amazing. I was trying to find a good Asian place in Pittsburgh after having moved from CA, and this was the first restaurant that met and surpassed my expectations. Mala fried green beans, noodle soups, and traditional mapo tofu: they do it right. It's cozy and refined as well, so this is a great place for intimate dates.
